Quotable quotes…2

This is the second in a series of quotes that I think will be helpful to you...look here for the first one.

I start off with the same paragraph, but the quotes are different...

Sometimes I see a quote from someone and I sit back and think “What in the world are they saying or meaning by that?” or “Why would that quote be published?” There are quotable quotes that are worth repeating and some that are an utter waste of time.
We won’t all agree on what quotes are important, in life, but when I see one that I like, I copy it and save it to a list of quotes that I have found over the last 15 years or so. I don’t have many, but here are a few that I thought might make you think…

I’ve added some thoughts behind each one that tell you why I think they are important...you may have your own good quotes, that are better than these, but I’ve found these helpful along the way, for me. I don’t know all of these people, or their backgrounds, but I found that the quote I took from them helped me along the way.
Hope they help you too...

“Of all the attitudes we can acquire, surely the attitude of gratitude is the most important and by far the most life-changing”. - Zig Ziglar - Notice that I like gratitude. Gratitude should be a trademark of your life. Look at last weeks post about quotes.
"The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!" - Marvin Phillips - I love this one because it incorporates my last name. Really, because it takes effort to be successful and many sit back, daydreaming and waiting for success, rather than making the effort required to get there.
"It takes a bigger man to make a man than to break a man!" - unknown - We should always blossom and build up others. I love the concept of blossoming people - we can take the little seed of a person and build them into something, or someone great. Wouldn't it be awesome if, one day, a person came back to you and said thanks for blossoming them? That should be a goal in all of our lives.
"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." -Michael Jordan - I know he was a crazy good athlete, but he didn’t make to the level that he did by giving up at the wall. He kept going and so should we. We all have giants and walls and trouble and turmoil, but we can get around it, over it or through it with God’s help.
"Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?" -Anonymous - Ouch - this one hit me on a day that my attitude was more like a festering wound. This is an excellent reminder of how we can influence folks everyday...I said everyday.
“Successful people are successful because they form the habits of doing those things that failures don't like to do.”~Albert Gray - I know I will still fail, but if I learn successful habits then I will fail less and less severely.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams - Are you leading? Am I leading? Are we inspiring? This quote is measured by others and not ourselves...that’s hard, but important.
“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.” - Vince Lombardi - Why do we give up? Because we haven’t got a strong enough will. Now, be careful, because it should always be God’s will, but He gave us a will to help others and to move forward with His calling on our lives.
"Never Fail - What I mean by that, is fail a lot!" - Craig Stumpf - This guy is a quoting machine - I just love him! It’s hard to create your own quote, but I believe this statement and I have it in a lot of places, so that I’m motivated to fail and keep going when I do. It’s a weird concept, but it’s true of all of us.
"Fail a lot. Let it hurt. Fix it. Take the risk. Fail some more. Grow from it." - Craig Stumpf - Another amazing quote from this blogging genius (I think you’re getting my goofy sarcasm here...I hope). This is my version of Samuel Beckett’s quote on my blog. I hate failure, but I know it’s coming and I know it hurts and I’m not going to set it make me fall apart and give up. The risk is worth it in the end, when you don’t give up.
Lessons Learned: Pay attention to what people say. It could help you.
Thoughts: Do you have any motivating quotes to share?

  1. From Voyage of the Dawn Treader:
When her young admirer said, "When I grow up I want to be just like you.",
Lucy replied (my favorite quote):"When you grow up, you should be just like you."

  3. These are some great quotes. I really like: "Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?" Having a positive attitude requires choosing to daily have one.

  4. Attitudes impact more than we know...you're right, it's a choice.
